Several local forefighters lost their lives during a wildfire in the mid-90's. This monument was erected to honor them, and all wildland firefighters.

More than just several...
July 6 1994, Storm King Mountain, Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
Fourteen wildland firefighters died. Nine were from the Prineville Hotshots.
